Factors Contributing to Poor Drainage
- Soil type particularly heavy clay
- Lay of the land
- Sunshine or shade
- Changes to neighbouring areas
The solution to your drainage problems is to drain water away from your garden, using a combination of drainage pipes arranged in a herring bone pattern and gravel which is placed below the surface of your lawn.
A waterlogged garden can be very bad for your lawn and plants, this is due to the fact that the water fills all the air spaces between the soil particles preventing oxygen from reaching their roots.
Plants may look like they need water due to this lack of oxygen, their leaves can turn yellow and they can start to wilt. Plant growth can be stunted, or plants can fail to sprout and shoots die back.
Waterlogging also encourages algae, moss, lichens and liverworts, which flourish in badly-drained or ‘soggy’ lawns.
This is why we also offer a re-turfing service which can be in combination with or seperate from our garden drainage service.
I have no hesitation in recommending Ewan for all drainage work. When you hire Ewan not only do you get brawn you get Brains as well.”
